Who owns the WMCRR?
The WMCRR is privately owned by the Clark family.
When was the WMCRR built?
The WMCRR was originally built in 1955. The first train ride took place in July 30, 1958 and the total revenue was ten dollars.
Does the WMCRR have a museum?
The WMCRR is a living museum of railroad engineering. It is an operating railway and an invaluable 2.5-mile-long museum of railroad history and technology. It is not a static display of relics of railroad engines, cars and trackside structures.
Is the railroad yard open to the public?
Yes, you are welcome to walk about the yards.
For your safety, please follow these guidelines:
- Watch your children carefully
- Always look for moving trains before crossing any tracks. Locomotives can be very quiet when they are moving.
- Never step on the rails themselves, as they can be slippery.
- Visitors are not allowed inside the shops and engine houses, or on any railroad equipment without permission.
Is the railroad open during the off-season?
No.
Can I volunteer at the railroad?
No the WMCRR is operated by a paid staff of professional railroaders.
Insurance does not permit us to have volunteers at the WMCRR.
How do I apply for a job at the railroad?
Clark's Trading Post hires seasonal and full-time staff as the need warrants.
